Signs line up the streets encouraging people to stay on the straight and narrow path. Our bus stopped at sunset to allow people to go pray. Now in Peshawar, 50km from the Afghan border. The weather is hot, humid and dusty, the roads are congested and hectic. A flash sand storm crossed the city and engulfed the hotel's patio, shattering the flower pots on the blaconeys.
Tomorrow, we can cross the Khyber pass if we hire an armed guard with vehicle, as we will be entering tribal areas beyond the control of the Pakistani authorities. The North West Frontier Province is an all-male society with very few women in sight, which is quite unpleasant.
