The change of year
There is a slight nervousness that I cannot ever shed about finding a good way of celebrating the change of year, as if the better the celebration, the better the coming year will be. So invariably what I've finally decided to do seems much smaller than what I'd imagined I'd do, but is most likely to be great fun anyway, and certainly different. This time is also the opportunity for me to read this blog's posts from previous years and to compare them with today. I can only recognise that this blog lives on, despite the prevalence of social networking that is trying to replace it, but also my reluctance to exhibit all of my life on the web. I recently checked its usage statistics and noticed with some amusement that the most visited page (by far) is the one with pictures of "emo boys" that I took at Reading Festival. It's also the most commented. So I probably could increase traffic and make a fortune with Google ads with more posts like this. But I'm more likely to keep working at it in the same style as before, encouraged by recent visitors like the girls (see previous post) I met on the beach in Acapulco who found my blog and have kept in touch. They dragged me to use MSN, Facebook and Hi5 but the blog has become the cool one in the lot. (I'm adding one more potentially "emo"-looking dude that appeared on one of my Reading 2006 pix. I'll check the stats again.) To all, Happy New Year.
Since posting this, the guys pictured and some of their friends have found this page and posted their own comments. It turns out none of them are actually "emo", but it doesn't seem to make a difference to their fans.
