Porcinet in London

Porcinet in LondonFlat hunting in London today. My plane takes off from Geneva in 7 hours. And James Eales took this picture while flat hunting in London, posted on the BBC News website. It cheered him up.

Signed!

Moscow - London - Z&Uumlrich - GenevaToday, a friend and I met in Geneva to celebrate our new jobs after graduation. Although we will be going different ways in different locations, our ambition remains similar. Up to now we had always been pushing each other to do just a bit more than we would maybe have otherwise, and it paid off.

We are now both looking forward to very interesting times, free of studying hassle! (Good luck for your finals!)

Kalpana Chawla

Kalpana ChawlaAlmost one and a half years after the tragic disaster of the Nasa space shuttle Columbia, one of its crew, the late Indian-American astronaut Kalpana Chawla has been honoured by the New York City administration. Kalpana Chawla was one of the seven astronauts killed when the Colombia shuttle disintegrated in mid-air on 1 February, 2003 (STS-107 mission).

Kalpana Chawla Way74th Street in the Jackson Heights area of the city has now been renamed, 74 Street Kalpana Chawla Way. The Jackson Heights area, also known as Little India, has a strong concentration of people of South Asian origin who strongly favoured the move to honour Chawla. People from all walks of life remember the astronaut's warm smile and pioneering spirit. A life that ended so abruptly will now be remembered for generations to come every time they visit Jackson Heights.

Lucky boy

Muse at Glasto 2004Nearly by accident, I ran into a ticket for Muse's Paleo Festival gig on 23 July! It was lying unwanted at a purchasing point, an early ticket (at a discount price) that somebody didn't want anymore. No shady deals at the festival gates or rush for the morning internet sales required (how dull!). The gig will be great, I know it!
